Drowning Facts PDF Print E-mail

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, babies can drown in as little as 1 inch of water. Between 2002 and 2004, Bathtubs were involved in 71 percent of nonpool drowning deaths.

To avoid the potential for such tragedies:

  • Never leave a child unattended in the bathtub, even for a moment.
  • Do not leave older siblings to watch younger siblings in the tub, they are kids too!
  • Do not leave children alone near buckets, planters, fish tanks or other vessels of water.
  • Make sure you or other caregivers are constantly supervising your children.  Drownings happen in an instant.
