Have you ever been stumped to find a great toy that you know a 2-5 year old would not only like, but that would help improve dexterity, problem solving skills and inspire imagination at the same time? As my third child just had her birthday, I decided that I wasn't going to buy just any toy, it had to be something great! So, I set out to find that perfect toy...
I went to the toy store and was amazed to find all of the options. There are the old stand-bys... dolls and stuffed animals or dress up clothes. There are the new options of electronics and hand held devices. But, between the Webkinz and American Girl dolls that my older daughters have and the iPod and iPhones that my daughters keep sneaking away from my husband and I, we need something different. Then, it happened...
I found the Sesame Street K'NEX building set. It was not too expensive (around $10). These are characters she loves, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo, Ernie and Cookie Monster. My favorite thing is that there are no small pieces for her to choke on and she can build something that she can then play with which builds her self-esteem! It was the perfect gift!
When she opened this particular present, she not only squealed with delight, but she immediately began to assemble Oscar! It was not too difficult for her to do and my other two daughters (ages 7 and 9) even wanted to help her which she was more than happy to allow. I did not know that this would be the perfect gift, but if you are looking for a birthday or holiday gift this season, the K'NEX Sesame Street Building Sets are a sure winner!
